Dr.Klassen says they’re aware of holidays parties that lead to COVID-19 transmission

Huron Perth’s Medical Officer of Health says they are aware of some partying over the Christmas holidays that lead to COVID-19 transmission.

It comes as the region reported one new death and 41 new cases from the weekend.

Dr.Miriam Klassen says the death was the third long-term care resident at Exeter Villa to pass away in a COVID-19 outbreak and it brings the death toll to 25.

Of the new cases,eight are in Stratford, six are in Perth South, four are in North Perth, Perth East and St.Marys and two are in West Perth.

The rest are in Huron County.

There are currently 106 active cases in the area, 1 less than reported on Saturday.

There have been 888 cases in the region since the start of the pandemic with 757 recovered.
