Welland man faces impaired and drug charges after collision

A 60-year-old Welland man faces impaired and drug charges after an early morning collision.

Just before 4 o’clock Wednesday morning, Perth County and Oxford County OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Elginfield Road on the border or Perth and Oxford Counties.

The driver and only person in the vehicle wasn’t injured.

When police arrived on scene, they say they determined that man was impaired and he was arrested and brought to a local OPP detachment for further testing.

During the investigation, a quantity of cannabis was located in the vehicle.

He now faces charges including Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, Possession for the Purpose of Distributing and Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling.
