Breaking:COVID-19 outbreak declared at Stratford General Hospital

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared in the Surgery Unit at the Stratford General Hospital.

Officials with the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance say the outbreak was declared on Friday after three cases of the virus were identified in staff members.

They say no patients have acquired the virus while in hospital.

An outbreak is declared when there are two COVID-19 cases within a 14-day period, where both cases could reasonably have been acquired in the hospital.

Affected staff are currently self-isolating at home and will not return to work until their self-isolation period is complete and they are asymptomatic.

Family and Caregiver Presence in the unit is now restricted with the only exception for palliative patients.

The hospital remains open for all scheduled clinics, procedures and emergency visits.
