One new death, 51 new COVID-19 cases in Huron Perth

There is one more death and 51 new COVID-19 cases in our region after the weekend.

Huron Perth Public Health updated its data from Saturday and Sunday on Monday.

The death was a resident on the long-term care side at Caressant Care in Listowel.

An ongoing outbreak at Caressant Care has affected 27 residents and 13 staff on the long-term care side and 19 residents and six staff on the retirement home side.

The death brings the total number of people who have died in the region since the pandemic began to 26.

Twenty-four of the new cases are in North Perth, twelve are in Stratford and one is in West Perth.

The rest of the cases are in Huron County.

There are currently 126 active cases in the area, up from 111 on Saturday.

There have been 1,032 cases since the start of the pandemic with 880 recovered.
