Xinyi Canada Glass says it’s suspending a proposed glass plant project in Stratford indefinitely.
In a statement, the company says the decision was made to avoid further financial loss and “unfounded” attacks on its reputation.
The decision, according to the statement, was made because of the continued deferral of approval by Stratford City Council.
Council voted in November to defer the project until it said questions from several concerned residents were answered.
Several rallies were held by community groups raising opposition to the project over concerns including water usage and increased traffic on city streets.
