Huron East man charged after crashing through police barrier

A driver has been charged after nearly hitting a police officer.

The Huron County OPP says the incident happened Tuesday morning at the intersection of Huron Road and Benmiller Line.

A barricade had been set up as police were directing traffic away from a crash in the area.

The officer was standing near the barricade when he spotted a car heading right for it.

He managed to move out of the way moments before the car smashed into the barrier, destroying it.

The 91-year-old Huron East man who was behind the wheel has been charged with careless driving.
