Broadcaster Bill Inkol passes away at 92

Many across the area are taking time to remember a broadcasting legend.

Bill Inkol passed away on Monday at the age of 92 after a career that saw him join CJCS in 1951 and soon after become Sports Director.

In 1962, he moved to London and made the switch to television broadcasting before joining CKCO TV in Kitchener as Sports Director in 1967 and remaining there for his career.

Among Inkol’s career highlights were covering five Olympic games, hosting Blue Jays Banter for 15 years and hosting Bowling for Dollars.

John Kasnter is the General Manager of the Stratford Perth Museum and a former sports writer and he says Inkol had a huge influence on his life.

“Bill Inkol was a great family friend, he really had a lot to do with my love of sports and my love of sports writing, he always loved Stratford.”

Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson tweeted Inkol was a “gentleman, gracious in his spirit and time, witty and thoughtful.”
