The new Community Developer and Support Worker in St.Marys is aiming to address social isolation.
The United Way Perth-Huron says Cody Cunningham has been hired in the position and his role will see him support tenants in social housing, working to understand their challenges and connecting them with services.
They say part of his mandate is also to develop stronger community networks and devote time to education around safety, homelessness, poverty and other social issues. In the future,
He will also work to create community events that build bridges among residents.
The position, funded for one year, is part of a new pilot project with the goal of making it easier for area residents to access social services.
