Police: OPP Canine Unit helps track down wanted man in North Perth

Perth County OPP says a Mitchell man faces a raft of charges after an incident that saw him collide with a police cruiser on purpose.

Police say an officer observed a suspicious vehicle on Line 57 in North Perth just after 2 o’clock in the morning on March 11th.

The officer believed the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant and police say they had to use a tire deflation device to slow the vehicle.

It drove through a stop sign, collided with a police cruiser, and ended up in the ditch on Perth Road 164.

The suspect then fled on foot and broke into a nearby garage before he was tracked down with the help of the OPP Canine Unit.

The 25-year-old faces several charges including Flight from Peace Officer and Dangerous Operation.
