Strahm, Marie Kathryn

Marie Kathryn (Weicker) Strahm age 98 passed away peacefully at Nithview Retirement Home, New Hamburg surrounded by her loving family on Saturday September 28, 2014. Born in Haysville, daughter of the late Willis and Edith (Roth) Weicker. Predeceased by her husband Earl (Flanny) Strahm whom she married on June 28, 1941 and predeceased her on July 23, 2001. Marie and Flanny owned and operated Strahm’s garage in Poole for 25 years where Marie was the postmaster, before they moved to Stratford, where they worked at the Stratford Agricultural Society until their retirement. Marie was also a very active member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and a Lifetime member of the Federated Women’s Institute of Ontario. Loving mother of Ronald (Elizabeth) Strahm of Stratford, Linda (Kenneth) Gerber of Wellesley and Susan (Bruce) Paleczny of Kitchener. Dear grandmother of Steven Strahm (Kim Souch), Chris (Josie) Strahm, Matthew Gerber, Nathan (Sara) Gerber, James Gerber (fiancé Jodi Wildschut), Heather (Christopher) Hewitt and Deborah Paleczny. Great grandmother of Stephanie and Katie Strahm, Christian and Jakob Strahm, Joey and Koen Gerber and Kaitlyn and Michael Hewitt.  Marie is survived by her two sisters Olive Fair and Violet Cook. Marie will be lovingly remembered my many nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents and husband, Marie was predeceased by her sister and her husband Irene and Wilfred Keutsch, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws Earl Cook, F.A. Fair, Bertha and John Meckbach, Carlton and Helene Strahm, Wilfred and Beatrice Strahm, Oliver and Margaret Strahm, Lloyd Strahm and Clair Strahm. Friends and relatives may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home 430 Huron Street., Stratford on Tuesday September 30, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 1, 2014 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church 115 Cambria Street., Stratford. Rev. Timothy Teuscher will officiate. Interment in St Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery (Tavistock).
