Police: Two people charged after stolen vehicle found in St.Marys

Stratford Police say two people face drug and weapons charges after a stolen vehicle was found in St.Marys.

Police say they located a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta that had been stolen from Calgary in a parking lot of a St.Marys apartment complex on Tuesday afternoon.

They say two people, a 44-year-old from St.Marys and a 39-year-old from London, were seen with the vehicle.

The vehicle was seized shortly before 5 o’clock in the afternoon and the 44-year-old was arrested and brought to Stratford Police Headquarters.

The Jetta was towed to the headquarters and searched with police saying they found a stun gun, magazine with live ammunition, and 906 grams of cannabis.

A further search by the Stratford Police K9 Unit found 14.5 grams of suspected purple fentanyl hidden further within the vehicle with the combined value of the drugs pegged at over $13,000.

The two men have been charged with weapons and drug offences and they both have future court appearances.
