Our regions unemployment rate decreased last month.
The Four County Labour Market Planning Board says the unemployment rate in March in the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region decreased by 0.5 per cent from 7.1 per cent to 6.6 per cent.
Overall net employment in the region increased by 400, with full-time gains and part-time losses.
Officials say the employment change shows a positive recovery from the second provincial lockdown which ended in February.
The board’s Executive Director, Gemma Mendez-Smith, says some sectors like utilities are above pre-COVID-19 levels but they are monitoring the numbers closely to see how the third lockdown will affect recovering and already lagging sectors.
