Stratford Perth Humane Society collecting donations to build new dog park

Volunteers at the Stratford Perth Humane Society walk the dogs at the shelter more than thirty-two hundred kilometres a year.

That’s why officials at the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth are looking to raise $35,000 to build a private dog park as part of their Centre Advancement Campaign.

They are hoping to collect $100,000 through the campaign for various pieces of medical equipment and to build the dog park behind their property on Griffith Road which is in a busy industrial park.

Nick Burke is the Director of Development at the humane society and he says they want to build an area that’s safe for both the dogs and the volunteers.

“Our volunteers are walking the dogs up and down Griffith Road, now being in an industrial area there are heavy trucks that drive by, construction vehicles, a lot of delivery vehicles, so it doesn’t create a safe environment.”

So far the campaign has raised $85,000.
