Lacroix, Laurier

Laurier “Larry” Joseph Lacroix, age 87, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Stratford General Hospital. Born in Quebec son of the late Ernest and Roseanna (Pelletier) Lacroix. Larry grew up working in lumber camps in the Gatineau Valley. Later he trained to become a goldsmith and watchmaker. He moved to Stratford in the early 50’s and opened his own jewellery store in 1957 “Larry Lacroix Jewellery Store”. Upon moving to Stratford he met his true love and soul mate Grace and married in 1963. They were happy to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary last year.  Larry is survived by his wife Grace (Clyne) Lacroix and their two children, Michelle Lisa Lacroix (Jim McKay) and John Paul Lacroix.  He was Grandfather to Mandi McKay and Jimmi McKay. Larry will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Larry was the last surviving member of the Lacroix family. He was predeceased by his brothers Yvonne, Gerard, Rejean, sisters Aline and Ernestine.   Friends and relatives may call at the W. G Young Funeral Home 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Sunday October 5, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church 96 Huron Street, Stratford on Monday October 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.  Burial of ashes will follow in Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church Restoration Fund, Heart and Stroke or Canadian Cancer Society through the funeral home. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
