Local hospitals continue to deal with capacity challenges

Hospitals in our region continue to be kept busy dealing with the third wave of COVID-19.

President and CEO of the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance, Andrew Williams, tells MyStratfordNow.com there are currently eight patients at Stratford General Hospital with the virus.

He says four patients from the GTHA are currently in intensive care at SGH and another four, three of whom are from the GTHA, are in the medical unit.

Williams says the latest patient to be transferred from the Toronto area arrived Wednesday afternoon.

He says overall capacity is an ongoing challenge, with regular discussions with other local hospitals, long-term care homes and home care teams around patient movement.
