Funding on the way for baseball fields in St.Marys

Creating safe places for kids to play baseball.

That’s what the Jays Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays, says is behind its Field of Dreams program which supports children and youth in the sport across Canada.

The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in St.Marys was one of 14 recipients chosen to receive grants this year with just over $56-thousand going to the facility to help with improvements to the fields where teams play during the summer.

Robert Witchel, Executive Director for the Jays Care Foundation, says they are delighted to see youth in our area benefit from the funding.

“We’re helping them upgrade a backstop on one of the fields and on the King Field we’re helping upgrade the bullpen, the irrigation system, also the bleachers.”

Jays Care has invested more than $15-million across all ten provinces and two territories in the last ten years.
