Beautiful weather sticking around for the Victoria Day long weekend

The beautiful weather we’re seeing will be sticking around through the long weekend.

Environment Canada Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says the sunny conditions we’ve seen in the area are warmer than average with the normal temperature at this time of the year around 20 degrees.

The weather agency says we’ll see highs of around 28 degrees over the next several days with a mix of sun and clouds.

Kimbell says he knows exactly what we have to thank for seeing summer-like weather in May.

“We have a giant ridge of high pressure that’s stretching from the Gulf of Mexico all the way up to eastern Ontario and southern Ontario.”

Kimbell says the weather will cool down a bit as of Monday but adds it will still be warmer than normal.
