Area hospitals are planning to resume surgeries and procedures that were postponed due to the pandemic.
The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance says, now that the province has cleared the way for their resumption, local hospitals will start with surgeries that aren’t expected to require patients to stay overnight or use critical resources.
That’s being done, they say, so that they can keep responding to increases in COVID-19 hospitalizations including patients who have been transferred from the Toronto area.
HPHA officials say other services affected will depend on the ability to move redeployed staff back to their home-base programs.
