Huron Perth’s Medical Officer of Health says current conditions in our region would allow for kids to go back to school.
Dr. Miriam Klassen says case counts are low enough for the resumption of in-person learning which she says is one factor the province looks at.
Other factors include the situation in neighboring regions and vaccination rates.
She says HPPH is prepared to manage case, contact and outbreak management at schools if they were to reopen.
“We’re ready for that, and our transmission recently in this past week came back down again, it had been higher in the couple weeks prior to that.”
Dr. Klassen adds provincial officials have reached out for feedback on opening schools in the region in the past but they haven’t done so recently.
