Stratford General Hospital stepping up to help hard-hit Manitoba

Our area is stepping up to help Manitoba as it deals with a soaring number of COVID-19 cases.

Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance CEO Andrew Williams says a patient with the virus from Winnipeg is expected to be transferred to the Stratford General Hospital in the next 24 hours.

Williams says it will bring the number of patients from outside the region with COVID, including those with resolved cases but who still require care, at SGH to five.

Manitoba’s intensive care unit capacity has increased 150 per cent over the past few days with hospitals forced to move patients to Ontario hospitals in order to make room.
