GOJHL wants to become a junior A league

The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League is hoping the third time’s the charm.

The league is trying to get the Ontario Hockey Association to reclassify it to a junior A league from its current junior B status.

It says the lower classification gives many people the idea that the quality of hockey isn’t as good as what you would find in higher organizations.

Stratford Warriors Director of Hockey Operations Jason Clarke says he’s hoping the plan works.

“Just that letter entices people to move, we battle constantly year-after-year with trying to retain players in the B league and they’re leaving for junior A.”

The league has issued a petition and an open letter to the OHA asking them to make the move.
