Cheoros, William

William “Bill” Cheoros of Mitchell passed away peacefully at the Mitchell Nursing Home on October 13, 2014, in his 86th year.

Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara, and his children Cathy Cheoros, Marie Shelley and Gordon, and David Cheoros and Karen.  Also grandchildren Rebecca, Sarah, Jason, Lisa, and Sophia, as well as great-grandchildren Kaya, Audrey, Eric, and Carl.  Bill is also survived by his sister, Christina Hoffmeyer, brother-in-law Andy Gross and Irmgard as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by his father Christopher, his mother Verna, brother Jack, and sister Helen Leppard.

Bill was well known in the Mitchell area, operating the Cosy Grill restaurant at the corner of Ontario Road and Highway 23 until his retirement in 1987.  He is fondly remembered by generations of local children for his homemade chocolates, Easter novelties, and candy canes.
Bill was an active member of Main Street United Church and the Masonic Lodge, serving as district secretary for many years.

Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, Mitchell on Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or Main St. United Church would be appreciated.
