Perth County OPP focusing on commercial motor vehicles

Perth County OPP are focusing on commercial motor vehicles this week.

Their Operation Safe Driver Campaign runs until Saturday and they will be focusing on attention on the safety of CMV’s and the interaction of CMV’s with other road users.

Last year, CMV involved collisions made up approximately 11% of OPP investigated collisions in the province, which is a slight decrease from 2019.

West Region OPP responded to just over 1000 collisions involving CMVs in 2020.

The Ministry of Transportation in Ontario says a commercial motor vehicle is a vehicle plated in Ontario, Mexico, or the U.S. such as: trucks with a gross weight or registered gross weight over 4,500 kg. or buses with a seating capacity of 10 or more passengers.
