Stratford residents are helping the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority learn more about our area.
The UTRCA is working with local property owners to start a new Community Precipitation Monitoring Project that involves rain gauges being installed on properties and daily precipitation being measured and recorded.
Volunteers enter the data into an online system called the Community Collaborative Ran, Hail and Snow Network that measures and maps precipitation across North America.
Emily Chandler is the Research and Communications Assistant with the UTRCA and she says the information gathered is invaluable.
“This is the first time that we will have these kinds of mini-stations set up across the watershed where we’re tracking that on a daily basis.”
Those interested in learning more can attend a session at the Stratford Perth Museum starting at 9 o’clock Tuesday morning.
