UPDATE: Driver charged after collision near St.Marys Quarry

One driver has now been charged after a collision near the St.Marys Quarry.

Shortly after 10:30 last Wednesday morning, Stratford Police say first responders were called out to the collision on Water Street South.

They say a Toyota Rav4, which had been travelling south on Water Street, crossed over the centre line causing a head on collision with a Subaru, which had been travelling north.

The impact caused the Rav4 to roll over onto its roof and a small fire started in the vehicle.

The Rav4 had also struck a guardrail on the side of the road, stopping it from falling into the quarry.

Police say lifeguards from the quarry helped both drivers before other emergency services arrived and transported them to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Toyota Rav4 has been charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
