Stratford’s Jared McCann excited to join the NHL’s Seattle Kraken

Stratford’s Jared McCann says he’s never been to Seattle but he’s excited to be a part of the National Hockey League’s brand new franchise.

After being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs by the Pittsburgh Penguins, the 25-year-old forward was left unprotected by Toronto in Wednesday night’s expansion draft and he was selected by Seattle.

McCann says he wasn’t expecting to be traded by Pittsburgh but he understands it’s a part of the business.

He says he’s excited to join his new team and explore the city.

“The water looks beautiful, the whole city looks awesome and everybody seems pretty excited to have an NHL team there and I’m just excited to get down there and get things going.”

McCann says he loves Stratford and he’ll continue to give back to his hometown whenever he can.
