Stratford City Council approves purchase of new aerial fire truck

A new customized, aerial truck will soon be a part of the Stratford Fire Department’s fleet.

Stratford City Council gave the green light to the nearly $2-million truck which will replace the department’s current ladder truck which will be retired.

Stratford Fire Chief John Paradis says the new truck has a 30 year lifespan and it’s been designed specifically to suit Stratford’s needs.

The new truck has features including a ladder bucket and can pump 2,000 gallons of water a minute.

The cost of the new truck works out to roughly $1.86 million, with the municipal-vehicle rebate, with the money coming from debt financing.

It’s expected the new truck will arrive in the next sixty days.
