Stratford Pride Community Centre launching virtual site

A new group of Stratford residents are launching the city’s first LGBT community centre as an information and social hub.

The first phase of the Stratford Pride Community Centre launched Wednesday with the the launch of a website that organizers say will feature community information for those living in, visiting or looking to move to Stratford.

Plans for the next phase, the opening of a bricks-and-mortar location in 2022 that will include information, a lending library and social activities, are underway now.

Bruce Duncan Skeaff is with Stratford Pride and he says they want to create a central place for all of the information available.

“During Pride Month in June my friends and I were noticing that were a lot of things going on in Stratford but, unless you knew where to look, it was difficult to find them.”

Skeaff says eventually they are going to be looking for title sponsors and funding from all three levels of government to make the vision a reality.
