Stratford Police are asking drivers to look out for school buses as students are getting ready to head back to class.
Constable Darren Fischer says we all need to be mindful of the extra traffic on area roads starting next Tuesday and the congestion that can bring by leaving ourselves extra time to get to where we need to go.
Fischer says we also need to be aware of slowing down in school zones and nearby intersections and not rushing students, many of whom might be new to the experience.
He says when you’re behind the wheel you always have to follow the rules.
“When you see the flashing lights and the stop arm extended you have to come to a stop regardless of what direction in traffic you’re going.”
Not obeying the law could lead to fines of between $400 and $2,000 for your first offence and six demerit points added to your license.
