Here’s another reminder to be wary of gift card frauds.
Stratford Police say they were contacted Tuesday night by someone who reported being scammed out of over $10,000.
The man said he was contacted by another male who said that he worked at RBC and that fraudulent purchases had been made on the victim’s bank account.
The suspect said gift cards had been bought with the victim’s credit card and funds had been transferred to California and they were then instructed to buy more gift cards and send the information along so the RCMP could track the previous transactions.
Police say the victim later learned they had been scammed.
