OPP hoping for a safe Labour Day long weekend

Police are asking drivers to help make sure we end the summer with a safe Labour Day long weekend.

So far this year, 213 people have died in traffic collisions.

Police say most deaths are preventable when you’re paying attention.

OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says it’s vital to put safety first.

“Many of these collisions are happening because of aggressive driving, because of impaired driving, people not paying attention, not sharing the road.”

You’re being urged to leave yourself extra time when heading out and not to be in a rush.
