Stratford’s rainbow crosswalk vandalized

The new rainbow crosswalk in downtown Stratford has been vandalized just a few days after it was installed.

Officials with Stratford-Perth Pride say the crosswalk was vandalized with black paint early Friday morning.

The vandalism was discovered by Stratford Public Works employees who immediately informed the police and workers have now cleaned the crosswalk off to the best of their ability.

The crosswalk was installed earlier this week by Stratford-Perth Pride.

Stratford Police are asking anyone with a business or home in the area with video surveillance, to check their cameras and report any suspicious activity from early Friday morning.

Police are also asking anyone who lives in and around the area to check their property, including all garbage/recycling receptacles for any evidence that could be linked to the incident.
