Funding on the way to help farmers with protection against African Swine Fever

Pig farmers are set to benefit from nearly $3 million to help them deal with African Swine Fever.

The provincial and federal government funding will help train and educate pork producers to help prevent the disease.

The virus is not a threat to food safety or humans but it could interrupt the province’s supply chain.

Farmers will be able to apply for cost-share funding for eligible expenses that will help farmers prevent the introduction of the virus on their farms as well as emergency plans to deal with an outbreak.

Costs will be eligible starting today, October 19, 2021.
