Large fire destroys empty barn in Perth East

A massive barn fire over the weekend in Perth East is under investigation.

Firefighters were called out to the blaze at an empty swine barn on Line 42 just before 10 o’clock Saturday morning and stayed on the scene until around six o’clock in the evening.

The barn was destroyed by the flames with the damage estimated to be around $500,000.

Crews from Perth East, Sebringville and Milverton helped put the fire out with water tankers brought in from West Perth and Monkton.

The cause is undetermined.

Animals in a neighboring barn were evacuated as a precaution.
