Breaking: Pettapiece won’t seek re-election as MPP for Perth-Wellington

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece says he won’t seek re-election.
In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, Pettapiece says the decision not to run in the next provincial election was difficult to make because, despite the challenges of political life, he truly enjoys the job.
However, he adds he turned 73 this month and, running again would mean committing, potentially, to another four-year term.
He says he’s choosing to instead spend the time as a full-time husband, father, and grandfather.
Pettapiece, a member of the Ontario Conservative party, was first elected in the 2011 provincial election.
The next Ontario election is scheduled for June 2nd, 2022.
