Police: Suspect tries to steal car with passenger inside

Police say a scary situation ended safely after someone tried to steal a vehicle in North Perth while someone was inside it.

Perth County OPP says they received a call around 8 a.m. on December 14th after a male suspect tried to steal a car that was running while it was warming up on Monument Road in Atwood.

The suspect entered the driver’s door, and put the car in reverse, according to police, when he noticed someone in the back seat of the car.

The suspect then fled the scene, returning to the vehicle that had dropped him off, and he was last seen driving south towards Monkton.

No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as caucasian, thin, with a scruffy beard, black toque, a sweater with no hood, black track pants, and black gloves with red spots on them.

Anyone with information on what happened is asked to call Perth County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
