More long-term care beds are coming to Stratford.

Officials including Ontario Long-Term Care Minister Rod Phillips held a virtual announcement Thursday morning where they revealed plans for a 160-bed redevelopment.

Construction on the new peopleCare Stratford is scheduled to begin in the fall and the facility will replace one that was destroyed by flooding in February 2015.

It will include 100 new beds and 60 others that were taken out of service due to the flood.

The facility will be part of a campus of care and is planned to be located in the Dickens Place and Hyde Road area.
