Update: Search for missing girl continues near Mitchell

The search for a missing 10-year-old girl near Mitchell continues.

Perth East and West Perth Fire Chief William Hunter tells MyStratfordNow.com crews have moved to the shores of the Thames River heading south from Mitchell.

North Perth firefighters, as well as firefighters from Shakespeare, are helping look for the girl with the area from St.Marys north along the river being scoured as well.

First responders were initially called out about a report of the 10-year-old child who had gone into the Whirl Creek around 10:30 Sunday morning.

The public is being asked to avoid the area.
