Police: Officer narrowly avoids getting hit by vehicle driven by suspect

It was a close call for a Stratford Police officer after they they narrowly avoided being hit by a vehicle.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. on March 7th, SPS says an officer tried to stop a vehicle on Queen Street East in St.Marys after they recognized the driver who was wanted on a warrant.

The officer got out of the cruiser and approached the vehicle when the suspect drove directly at them.

The officer avoided being hit but the suspect’s vehicle hit the rear driver’s side of the cruiser before heading eastbound on Queen Street through the downtown core.

Police eventually stopped the vehicle and arrested the suspect at gun point.

The accused is in custody and is scheduled to be in court on March 23rd.
