Ontario NDP leader says her plan will fix the housing crisis in the province

Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath says her party is offering hope for first-time home buyers.

In Stratford on Thursday, Horwath unveiled her Homes in Ontario Program which loans first-time buyers 10 per cent of the purchase price of their home as down payment support.

Horwath says the housing crisis is especially pertinent in our region with local realtors reporting a 30-year low in the supply of homes in February, while prices jumped 40 per cent from 2021.

If elected, Horwath says the NDP will bring in real change.

“We’ve seen this crisis growing for years and years under Liberals and Conservatives and it’s broken, the housing situation in our province is broken.”

Horwath was joined by Perth-Wellington NDP candidate Jo-Dee Burbach.
