GM’s Ingersoll plant to become companies first dedicated electric vehicle production facility

General Motors is the recipient of over a half-billion dollars in federal and provincial funding to help grow its electric vehicle (EV) production.

The auto manufacturer will launch Canada’s first full-scale EV production facility in Ingersoll at the CAMI  Assembly Plant.

Oxford County MPP, Ernie Hardeman says, “I’m pleased to see GM invest in such an important industry in Ingersoll. This investment will help to secure GM’s CAMI Assembly Plant as a leader in electric vehicle production and secures many well-paying jobs for workers in our communities.”

GM also announced it will add light-duty Chevy Silverado pickup truck production at its Oshawa plant creating 2,600 new jobs and a third shift to the plant that once shut down in 2019.

General Motors has invested $2-billion into both projects.
