Progressive Conservative Matthew Rae will represent Perth-Wellington at Queen’s Park.
Rae unofficially took 46.55 % of the vote in Thursday’s provincial election.
His win means the riding will stay in PC hands after Randy Pettapiece represented the region in Ontario since 2011.
This was the first time Rae ran for provincial office.
Rae grew-up north of Harriston on his family’s dairy farm and currently lives in Mitchell.
He’s a graduate of the University of Guelph and the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.
He says it’s a great honor to represent the people in the riding.
“I obviously want to see us continuing to make investments in rural Ontario, whether that’s rural broadband, rural healthcare funding, rural education spending, continuing to do the good work we’ve been doing over the past four years.”
Jo-Dee Burbach of the NDP came in second with 22.42 % while Liberal Ashley Fox was third with 16.40 %.
