United Way nearly halfway there, reaches 40% mark

The United Way Perth-Huron is making up ground.

The organization says it’s raised about 40% of this year’s goal.

Stratford Police Chief John Bates is one of the campaign co-chairs.

He says a few local businesses have been very successful in raising money:

The money raised by the United Way each year goes to support nearly 50 agencies in our area.

The Emily Murphy Centre is one of them.

Lisa Wilde from the Centre says the money goes to help kids:

The United Way is hoping to raise $1,170,000 this year.
