Local group wants to see change in Stratford City Council in fall election

A local group wants to see a Stratford City Council elected that’s transparent, accountable, and responsive to the residents of the city.
The Stratford Good Governance Group is holding its second public meeting over Zoom on Wednesday night as it says it tries to push ahead with plans to change council in this fall’s municipal election.
The group says in a media release that it was formed to provide a response to the chronic secrecy of council decision-making, revealed during the Xinyi Glass Factory debacle.
They say they plan to field a slate of candidates in the October 24th election.
Council voted in November 2020 to defer the glass factory project until questions from several concerned residents were answered.
Xinyi then announced in February 2021 that it was suspending the proposed plant.
