Nater says he’s disappointed in lack of answers from Hockey Canada over sexual assault investigation

Perth-Wellington MP John Nater says he’s not satisfied with the answers provided by Hockey Canada management over a 2018 sexual assault investigation.

Nater, the Conservative shadow minister for Canadian Heritage, was part of a committee meeting on Monday where Hockey Canada management was questioned on a 2018 sexual assault investigation.

The investigation involved an unidentified woman and eight unidentified members of the World Junior team after a golf tournament and gala in London.

Nater says more details need to be made clear.

“They haven’t been forthright and clear with many of the other costs associated with it including lawyer’s fees.”

Nater says the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage is looking at using some of its special powers to compel documents so more details will be learned.

Hockey Canada CEO Tom Renney says no taxpayer dollars received as federal funding was used in a settlement reached with the woman accuser.
