More area hospitals temporarily reducing operating hours because of human resource shortages

Hospitals in our region are continuing to temporarily reduce their hours because of ongoing and unavoidable health human resource shortages.
That’s according to Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance officials with shortened hours announced in the Emergency Departments at both the St.Marys Memorial Hospital and the Seaforth Community Hospital.
The department in St.Marys will close at 5 p.m. on Friday and will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday with regular hours scheduled for Sunday starting at 7 a.m.
In Seaforth, the department will also be closed on Friday with regular hours resuming on Saturday at 7 a.m.
Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1 with paramedics re-routing to the nearest available hospital.
“These are remarkably challenging times for all in the heath care system and I want to acknowledge and thank all HPHA Team Members for how they continue to step up to provide the best care possible,” says Andrew Williams, President & CEO. “The decision to reduce hours, while remarkably difficult, is the most responsible decision we can make when looking at the overall provision of emergency care across our region.”
