St.Marys Memorial Hospital again temporarily reduces hours because of staff shortages

The St.Marys Memorial Hospital is again adjusting its Emergency Department hours as it deals with human resource shortages.

Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance officials say the hospital’s ED will be closed Saturday and it will then be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The department is scheduled to resume normal hours as of 7 a.m. Monday.

Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1 and paramedics will re-route to the nearest available Emergency Department.

“These are remarkably challenging times for all in the heath care system and I want to acknowledge and thank all HPHA Team Members for how they continue to step up to provide the best care possible,” says Andrew Williams, President & CEO. “The decision to reduce hours, while remarkably difficult, is the safest and most responsible decision we can make when looking at the overall provision of emergency care across our region.”
