Vic Hayter Memorial Trot taking place Sunday at Clinton Raceway

The Vic Hayter Memorial Trot is set to welcome back the crowds this weekend in Clinton.

This is the seventh annual edition of the event at the Clinton Raceway in honor of Hayter who owned and operated many hotels in the region including The Arden Park Hotel and Festival Inn in Stratford.

After COVID-19 restrictions were in place for the last two years, there will be no reductions on the crowd size for Sunday’s free event that includes the $15,000 invitational trot.

Tony Elliott is the Assistant General Manager at the raceway and he says the event is special in remembering Hayter who passed away in 2016.

“With managing the hotels he always found time to come to the Clinton Raceway on Sundays and that’s certainly really special for his family and it’s really special for us to be able to celebrate that.”

The event begins at 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
