Busy AMO conference for Stratford officials

Homelessness and mental health services, infrastructure needs, affordable housing, and community safety and wellbeing.

Those are just a few of the topics Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson says he and other city officials have discussed with ministers and parliamentary assistants during the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference in Ottawa this week.

The forum started on Sunday and wraps up on Wednesday and it’s the first time it’s been held in nearly three years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mathieson says healthcare has also been top of mind.

“It’s been highlighted as an issue that needs to be addressed, there are very few levers if any that municipalities can put into play.”

Mathieson adds they also met with the Solicitor General’s Office to talk about the future of the police headquarters in the city.
