Perth East business loses $150,000 to fraud

OPP say it happened in Perth East last week.

The business owner was working with a Burlington vendor to buy a piece of machinery. A wire transfer was sent to the vendor through an email they had been communicating on.

Allegedly the vendor’s email was hacked by someone posing as the Burlington business.  The money was never received.

This has prompted the OPP to remind residents not to send money or personal information to someone you don’t know and always verify contact information.
